Ways to Describe a Lesion:
clinical appearance, tissue consistency, color, size, history
Vesicle
small, elevated, <1mm diameter, serous fluid
Pustule
various sizes, circumscribed, pus
Bulla
elevated, >5mm diameter, circumscribed, serous, blister-like
Macule
flat, different color than surrounding tissue, mole/freckle-like
Papule
small, elevated, circumscribed, <1mm diameter, no fluid
Nodule
palpable solid lesion, up to 1mm diameter, can be elevated/flat/beneath surface
Pedunculated
lesion attached by a stem/stalk, mushroom-like
Sessile
base of lesion is flat/broad, NOT stem-like
Lobule
lesion w segments/lobes that can appear fused together
