A

The risk of pyelonephritis is increased during pregnancy.

As many as one-third of pregnant women with asymptomatic bacteriuria will progress to develop pyelonephritis (if left untreated).

One of the most common complications of pregnancy, with potentially severe consequences for both mother and fetus (Pyelonephritis in pregnancy is associated with preterm birth and low birth weight infants.

Hospitalization with parenteral broad-spectrum antibiotics is recommended.
