PX- Chapter 5: Site Analysis Flashcards
what is a site analysis
an investigation and evaluation of conditions within which the project will be completed- find out the context of the project. Is a part of programming if ID is hired to do the programming
list some things you’d do in a site anaysis
measure the space photos look at views context of the site drawing the space up noting structural elements inventory of furniture to be reused code review capacities of HVAC and electrical Zoning set backs septic (for residential)
what’s the difference between site analysis and field survey
a field survey is part of site analysis. It’s basically drawing up the space in detail (if existing), noting potential noise problems. if not existing, reviewing the architectural drawings. Site analysis includes more info like photos, social context, sustainability potential, HVAC loads. HVAC condition is looked at in a field survey
what does sustainable design look at for the environmental impact of a building
materials used energy conservation alternative energy sources indoor air quality recycling and reuse install/operation/maintenance & disposal of materials
what does LEED stand for and what does it do
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
USA, consensus based building rating system designed to accelerate the development and implementation of green building practices
What is a sustainability decision that you should make in the programming design phase
decisions that affect site selection
what are some things to consider if you want to select a sustainable site or building
