what is a Police Pursuit:
means the operation of an emergency vehicle for the purpose of apprehending a suspect in a vehicle refusing to stop or attempting to evade police
Rules of Engagement:
Do not initiate a puirsuit for any offence other than a known criminal code or CDSA offence taking into considerations the seriousness of the offence
risk assessment before getting into a pursuit

what is stage 3 of pursuit:
where we transition to FOU
What is Visual contact:
Visual contat means the Flight Operation Unit (helicopter) can visually observe the suspect or suspect vehicle
what is disengage:
the police units involved to stop pursuing and revert to a distant follow, Police members to abide by the HTA
Distant follow:
the police units slow down or back off to a distance where the suspect vehicle can not view the police vehicle following but are nearby to re-engage the pursuit of the suspect vehicle if necessary or to affect the arrest. Police members to abide by the HTA
Visual Containment:
means the flight opps unit has visual contact with the suspect of the suspect vehicle and is in position to coordinate the incident.
Visual contact broken:
A situation where the flight opps unit has lost visual sight of the suspect or vehicle due to ground obstructions such as trees or buildings
Inter jurisdictional pursuits (wps leaving the city)
when assigned, unit to notify Dispatch on monitored group when you are in position
if assigned to take over as prime, when suspect passes by, assume Prime Unit duties
if assigned to deploy a tire deflation device, attempt to terminate/de-escalate the pursuit prior to it entering the city. If attempt fails, assume back up duties
