What is chyme?
fluid that passes out of the stomach consisting of gastric secretions and partially digested food

start of small intestine and neutralisation
What is the function of the jejunum and ileum?
nutrient, electrolyte and water absorption, B12 absorption
What is the function of the large bowel?
Final water absorption, temporary storage, final electrolyte absorption
Which part of the bowel absorbs the most water?
Small bowel
What do preganglionic fibres release?
Acetylcholine
What do postganglionic fibres release?
Acetylcholine, neuropeptides, norepinepherine
Which nerves are parasympathic?
Vagus nerve, pelvic splanchnic nerves
