Pulmonary Flashcards
bronchophony
increased vocal sound with spoken words = 99
Egophoy
E sounds like A; type of brochophony
whispered pectoriloquy
recognition of whispered words 1,2,3
BMI classification
<18.5 underweight, 18.5-24.9 = normal, 25-29 = overweight; 30-34= obese 1, 35 -39= obese 2, >40 extreme obestiy
what is normal BMI? what is considered obese?
18.5-24.9 = normal; obese = 30-34 and over
how is lymphedema classified
mild, moderate, severe - basesd on cm difference betwen limbs; <3 mild, 3-5 = moderate, >5cm difference = severe
1st degree conduction block
1st = PR interval >0.2sec, no change in cardiac function
2nd degree conduction block; type 1 vs type 2
AV conduciton intermittently fails to get to ventricules; Type I = Motibiz = progressive prolongation of PR interval; type II = bad. normal PR interval followed by one or more completely dropped.. can lead to 3rd degree block = requires a pacemaker
absolute indication of BP for ending exercise test
SBP drops >10mmHg
hyperresonance vs tympany
intermediate sound vs. hollow sound; first suggest emphysema or pneumothorax where tympany is definitely pneumothorax
Borg RPE scale vs. max HR
13-14 = 70% max HR; 11-13 = upper limit of prescribed training for early cardiac rehab
waist circumference and CV disease M and W
M = >40in, W = >35in
Karvonen’s formula
Lower target HR = HRmax x55%; Upper = HRmax x90% OR (HRmax-HRrest) x40% + HRrest same but with 85% for max
PD: apical segments
sitting leaning back, percussion above the clavicles
PD: posterior segments
1/4prone around medial border of scapula
