Agreement effect:
We tend to prefer situations where we agree with someone’s attitude about something over situations where we disagree with them, regardless of our attitudes toward that person.
Attitude triads:
Mental setups where we have (a) our own attitude toward something, (b) another person’s attitude toward that thing, and (c) our attitude toward that other person.
Attraction effect:
We tend to like situations where we like someone more than situations where we dislike them, regardless of their attitudes toward something.
Collectivistic cultures:
Cultures that focus on working together and depending on each other.
Descriptive norms:
what people actually do
Group polarization:
When individuals’ opinions become more extreme after discussing them in a group.
Individualistic cultures:
Cultures that emphasize independence and self-reliance.
Informational influence:
Following a group, to be correct or accurate.

Normative-Contextual Model of Attitude:
how our attitudes are shaped by the people around us and the social norms of our environment. It says that what we think and feel about something is influenced by what’s considered normal or acceptable in the groups we belong to. So, if everyone around us thinks a certain way, we’re more likely to think that way too.
Normative influence:
Following a group to be accepted or liked.
Person-Centric Model of Attitudes:
Seeing attitude as influenced by individual experiences rather than social norms.
Refutational defenses:
Providing arguments against a belief and rebuttals.
Supportive defenses:
Providing evidence supporting a belief.
Transportation in a narrative:
Getting deeply involved in a story’s world.
