Q

Transcription

A
  • Occurs in the nucleus
    1. DNA separates using an enzyme
    2. RNA captures the desired gene, and RNA nucleotides match with the DNA (a+t, g+c)
    3. This RNA is called mRNA (messenger) and leaves via nuclear pores
    4. DNA rezips

Q

Translation

A
  • Occurs in the Cytoplasm
    1. mRNA arrives at a ribosome called rRNA (ribosomal). this is the workbench where it is read, read by every 3 bases called a Codon
    2. tRNA (transfer) brings in the correct AAs (anticodon)
    3. Another tRNA comes in and forms a peptide bond between the AAs
    4. First tRNA leaves to collect another AA
    5. Polypeptide forms and goes to the Golgi to be packaged and sent out in a vesicle.
