Project structuring and schedule planning Flashcards
What is a ‘work-breakdown-structure’ and why is it useful? (2 points
it is a complete display of all elements of a project
it is useful to reduce complexity, assign tasks, not forget anything, ensure communication.
What is a ‘work package’? (2 points
has one person in charge, is the smallest unit in a work breakdown structure. is a closed area that can be distinguished from others.
What ‘classification principles’ can be used for project structuring? (3 points,
object orientation - structure according to objects that play a role in project
activity orientation - classification according to activities to be completed.
Phase orientation - orientation based on the project phases
How is a work-breakdown-structure organized? (3 points,
Start with the work break down structure - this is the project split into smaller parts. Then to organise this decide what order the tasks need to be presented? Does any depend on another? What should the time sequence be>?
Task list > link operations > time duration > optimise plan
What is a ‘critical path’? (2 points
these are operations which shouldnot be delayed - delay can have impact on project end date. Gives us information on bottle necks and tells us which path of tasks we should follow first
What is a Gantt-Chart? Explain its parts (see a possible example in following Figures)? (6 points)
We have our task list that has been assigned with durations, relationships, priority, critical paths etc. The Gannt chart is a way to visually see these processes. We can visually see which tasks can happen at the same time, which depends on the other.
