What is the most common primary bone tumour?
Osteosarcoma
What condition is osteosarcoma associated with?
Paget’s disease
What is Paget’s disease?
A chronic bone disorder, abnormal bone remodelling.
Increased bone resorption followed by excessive and chaotic bone formation.
Leads to overgrowth and weakened bone tissue.
Bone deformities, pain, other complications.

Primarily seen in children and young adults.
What is fibrosarcoma?
Rare type of cancer originating in fibrous connective tissue.
Develops from fibroblasts

Type of cancer arising from chondrocytes (cartilage-forming cells), mostly within bones.
What are symptoms of bone cancer?
Severe pain, worst at night
Decreased range of motion of long bone/vertebrae
Weight loss
Fatigue
Fever
malaise
How do you diagnose primary bone tumours?
Skeletal isotope scan
X-ray osteolysis
Increased ALP
Increased ESR/ CRP
Hypercalcaemia
How do you treat bone tumours?
Chemotherapy
Radiotherapy
Bisphosphonates
