Presentation of Quantitative Data Flashcards
Summary Table
Table that includes descriptive statistics and not raw scores. Standard practise to include a summary paragraph beneath table to explain results.
Bar Charts
Used when data is divided into categories. Conditions go on x axis and frequency or amount in each category on y axis. Bars are separate to denote dealing with separate conditions.
Scattergrams
Used when conducting correlation. Same pp provide data for both co variables so single point plotted per participant.
Histograms
Used when there is continuous data. Data can take any value so grouped before they can be represented in frequency table or statistical diagram. y axis is frequency and x axis equal sized intervals in single category.
Line Graphs
Used to represent continuous data and use points connected by lines to show how something changes over time. IV plotted on x axis and DV on y axis.
