How can preterm labour be managed?

A

CTG

Tocolysis with nifedipine - stop uterine contractions

Maternal corticosteroids - develop fetal lungs

IV magnesium sulphate - protect fetal brain

How is the diagnosis of P-PROM made?

A

Speculum - look for pooling of amniotic fluid

Actim PROM - vaginal swab that measure IGFBP1

A

Prophylactic erythromycin

Corticosteroids

Aim for 34 weeks
