What is prayer
It is a way in which Christians can communicate with God
They believe that prayer helps them to develop a relationship with God as a person

Prayers in church services are led by people and the congregation can take part through set responses
Congregation can listen to prayers and agree with what was said by saying “amen” at the end

What are set/liturgical prayers?
Prayers that follow a certain format and are repeated Prayers that help worshippers express their thankfulness, confession and requests to God.
Set prayers help believers find words to say to god and these words take one more meaning and depth as they are regularly used and reflected upon.
What are informal prayers
These do not follow a set pattern And are more spontaneous
It gives them the freedom to relate to got in an individual way
For some it is a more intimate way of engaging in conversation with god.
Why is the Lord’s Prayer important
It is the prayer that Jesus told his followers to use.
It is useful as it expresses adoration, confession and supplication.
What are the benefits of individual prayer
It helps them develop a close and personal relationship with God
Christians reliance on gods increases and Their faith will be deepened as they seek His will in all aspects of their life

Prayers of adoration: Prayers that focus on Gods character
2) confession - people ask for forgiveness for their sins
3) supplications and intercession: supplication -asking for help, intercession - praying on behalf of others
4) thanksgiving- thanking god for his provision
5) grace - thanking god before earring a meal
6) praying in the spirit- led by the Holy Spirit
7) meditation all prayer - focuses in stillness upon god.
