postpartum haemorrhage definition
A
Blood loss equal to or exceeding 500ml after the birth of the baby
Primary PPH: within 24h of delivery
Secondary PPH: >24h - 6/52 post delivery

A
- call for help
- Assess
- Stop the bleeding
- Fluid Replacement

postpartum haemorrhage: assess
A
- Vital Signs: Pulse, BP, CRT, Sats every 15min
-Give Oxygen
-Determine Cause of bleeding- 4Ts
-Blood Samples: FBC, clotting, fibrinogen, U&E, LFT, Lactate
-Cross-match 6 units red packed cells
-May need Major Haemorrhage protocol
