posterior forearm Flashcards
what two muscles attach to the lateral supracondylar ridge in the posterior forearm
two of the muscles of the superficial posterior forearm - the brachioradials and the extensor carpi radialis longus
what muscles of the posterior forearm attach to the lateral epicondyle
extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor digitorum, extensor digiti minimi, extensor carpi ulnaris, and the anconeus
what are the muscles of the deep posterior forearm
the supinator, abductor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, extensor pollicis longus and the extensor indicis
what does the anconeus muscle do
it prevents the capsule of the elbow from getting trapped when we are doing extension of the elbow. - also can be an elbow extendor
distal connection points and thus function of the ECU, ECRL, ECRB
these all attach to the metacarpals of the hand. this means they will be doing wrist extension
attachments of the brachioradialis and function
the lateral supracondylar ridge and the radial styloid process, thus this does elbow flexion
distal attachment of the extensor digitorum and function
this makes the extensor hood on the 2-5th fingers, thus extension of the fingers and maybe wrist extension too?
