Post-Operative Care (Hypovolaemic Shock) Flashcards
What is Hypovolaemic shock?
reduction in circulating intravacular volume
How does hypovolaemic shock affect the body?
loss of BP detected in baroreceptors- stroke (beats/min)
cardiac output increases contracitility
increase % of blood out of heart- each beat
How is vasocontstriction applied?
re-routes blood to vital organs, temp increaes BP (short term)- coping mechansim
IVFT needed!!- BP will reduce
How much % does the cardiac output of blood volume in one beat?
70%
Hypovolaemic treatment-
overload
prevent further loss- anti-emtic
fluid replacement- crystalloid/ whole bloods- neccessary on top of crystalloids
Hypovolaemic clinical signs-
CRT prolonged
pale MM
tachycardia
low BP
cold extremeties
lower than cats
Dog tachycardia-
220
higher than dogs
Cat tachycardia-
250
