What are the conditions in need of surgery?
limb/ digit fractures
amputation
crucitate ligament rupture
What are the nursing considerations?
Analgesia- CRIs, methadone
Blood products- calcs, ready for arterial burst
radiography -before/ after
antibiotics
anaesthesia- muscle loss tone, secure limbs- prevents tissue damage- weighing after
hypothermic
What is a TPLO?
treats cranial cruciate ligament ruptures in stifle
TPLO surgical procedure?
changing angle of shin bone, cutting, rotating- stabilising with plates and screws
Limb Amputation-
remove damaged/ diseased leg- high level close to body- prevents movement interference
Walking Considerations-
towel aiding, limited excersise, avoid slippery floors
Fluid Requirements-
0.9% saline, mild-hydration, restores imbalance of electrolytes, improves circulation and oxygen carrying towards tissues- perfusion. Reduces risk of organ failure
