Pneumatics Flashcards
What is pneumatic air used for?
Air conditioning
Anti-ice
Engine start
Pressurization
When does the High Stage Valve open?
Anti-ice
Cross bleed start
Low Thrust
Where are the precoolers located?
Engine pylons
When does the cross bleed valve automatically open when set to AUTO?
Anti-ice
Cross bleed start
When does the emergency ram air valve open?
When both packs are turned off
What is the difference between automatic and manual control of the air conditioning packs?
Automatic sets a selected temperature, Manual directly controls the dual temperature control valve
How is manual mode selected for air conditioning pack temperature control?
Pull the knob out
How many recirculation fans are in the pneumatic system?
Two; one button controls both recirculation fans
To warm up the cabin more quickly, should the recirculation fan be selected on or off?
ON
To cool down the cabin more quickly, should the recirculation fan be selected on or off?
OFF
Can the gasper fan be turned off on the ground?
No
How is the rear electronics Compartment cooled?
In flight, air is passed through the compartment and out the outflow valves
On the ground, the gasper fan sends cooling air to the compartment
What happens to the packs during a takeoff or go-around when high thrust is needed?
The FADEC turns the packs off. The packs must be manually reset by pressing the pack buttons out and then back in.
How is a bleed leak indicated?
A red LEAK inscription illuminates inside the bleed button, EICAS warning
How can the pilot tell if the APU Bleed is supplying the pneumatic system?
An OPEN inscription illuminates inside the APU Bleed button
If an engine bleed and APU Bleed are both selected on, which takes priority?
Engine bleed
How is the forward electronic compartment cooled?
Automatic fans turn on when temperature exceeds 24C (75F)
Where are the cockpit and cabin temperatures displayed?
On MFD ECS anti ice page
