Plants:cells To System Flashcards
The flower
The Flower is the reproductive organ of the flowering plant
What’s stamen specialize for
It’s specialized to produce pollen
What is Cross pollen
Cross pollination is when one plant pollinates with a plant of another variety. This leads to genetic diversity.
cell specialization
Cell Specialization is the process by which cells develop from similar cells into cells that
have specific functions within a multicellular organism.
cell differentiation
- Cell Differentiation is a stage in development of a living organism
during which specialized cells form. - Cells are specialized according to the set of proteins
they contain. The genes responsible for producing
those proteins are turned on by influence of external
factors. The proteins produced in a cell determine the
eventual function of that cell.
a plants stem
A plant’s stem has two main functions: physical support and transportation of water,
nutrients, and sugars.
what does plants contain
Meristematic cells
Meristematic cells are unspecialized cells that gives rise to specific
specialized cells in plants
Dermal Tissue
. Dermal Tissue (a one cell layer thick protective exterior)
* Also known as the Epidermal Tissue, it controls the exchange of water
and gases between the plant and its external environment.
Vascular Tissue
Vascular Tissue (transports water and nutrients internally from the roots upward
throughout the plant)
. Ground Tissue
. Ground Tissue (located between the dermal and vascular tissues, it is responsible
for the storing of vital nutrients and the sugars produced by the plant)
what are the three types of plant tissue
Dermal Tissue ,
Vascular Tissue ,and
Ground Tissue.
Ground Tissue
Ground Tissue: made up of
parenchyma cells that perform
photosynthesis and sclerenchyma
cells that support the plant’s body.
