Pitt And Administartion Flashcards
What were the problems with the British governments administration?
. It was too small, only about 3000 people made up the administration and this was too small to run the country efficiently.
. Resources were often inefficiently deployed, some areas were undermanned and other area were overmanned.
How did Pitt deal with the problems with the Administration?
. Pitt used retrenchment to actually cut 600 jobs from the Administration and he therefore made it smaller but it was now more organised and efficient.
. To fix the inefficient deployment of resources, Pitt abolished roles that were useless and increased manpower in more important sectors, therefore making the Administration more efficient.
