. The Corn law was introduced to protect landowners and the price of British grain by restricting the amount of foreign grain that could be imported.
. The law resulted in increased bread prices.
What 3 things happened under Liverpool and what effects did these have?
. Industrialisation - large scale industry/ mass production started to outdo smaller producers.
. The end of the Napoleonic wars in 1815 caused an economic slump in war related industry’s, loss of trade due to the war in the first place and returning troops found themselves unemployed.
. The income tax which had been introduced as a direct result of the war was abolished, therefore removing a good source of income for the government.
Who were croppers and what did they later become?
. The croppers were originally highly skilled workers in the textiles industry.
. Once mass production came to the textile industry these people lost their jobs and in protest formed the Luddite protest group.
