Explain the statement “may not pay less than pro-rate share of the operating expense of a flight”
Pro-rata means proportional. The pilot may not pay less than his or her share of the flight expenses with the passengers, providing the expenses involve only fuel, oil, airport fees, or rental fees.
The annual inspection for your aircraft is now due and you ask several friends that fly with you regularly to contribute money to help you pay for the inspection. Do the regulations allow for these contributions?
No. A private pilot may not pay less than the pro rata share of the operating expense of a flight.
To act as a required pilot flight crewmember of a civil aircraft, what must a pilot have in his/her physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft

A photo ID
A medical certificate
While you are performing a preflight inspection on your aircraft, an inspector from the FAA introduces herself and says she wants to conduct a ramp inspection. What documents are you required to show the inspector?
A pilot certificate
A photo ID
A medical certificate
What is the definition of a high-performance airplane, and what must you do to act as PIC of such an airplane?
An aircraft that has more than 200hp
To act as PIC you must log ground and flight training from an authorized CFI in a high-performance A/C or a flight sim that is representative of a high-performance A/C
Received and logged a one time endorsement in your logbook from an authorized CFI
Other and high-performance and complex A/C what other types of aircraft require specific training and logbook endorsement from an authorized CFI
High-altitude A/C that have a service ceiling or Max operating altitude (whichever is lower) above 25,000 MSL
Tailwheel airplanes
What is a definition of a complex airplane and what must you do to act as PIC of such an airplane
An A/C with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller; including A/C with FADEC
To act as PIC you must get flight and ground training from an authorized CFI and have a 1 time endorsement in your log book
With respect to certification, privileges, and limitations or airman, define the terms category, class, and type
Category - Airplane, Rotorcraft, Glider
Class - Single-engine Land; Multi-engine Land
Type - DC-9, 737
What are the requirements to remain current as a PPL?
Accomplish a flight review every 24 months and have it endorsed in your logbook
To carry passengers:
Day time: 3 T/O and landings in the past 90 days in an A/C of the same category and class (and type if required)
Night and tailwheel: Same as day but the landings must be to a full-stop
You have not kept up with logging each of your recent flights. Are you in violation of any regulations
No, you are only require to log flights used to meet requirements
You’re flying in a single-engine, high performance, complex airplane. You hold a PPL for a ASAL but not high-performance or complex endorsements. Your friend who has those endorsements is acting as PIC for the flight. Can you log PIC time for the time you act as sole manipulator of the controlx
Yes, the regulations allow you to log PIC time while they are the sole manipulator for the controls for A/C they are rated for, however, they cannot act as PIC
Explain the difference between being current and being proficient
Current means having the minimum FAA requirements meaning you are legal to make the flight. Being proficient means that you can complete the flight with a high degree of competence i.e. you can complete the flight safely in terms of pilot experience
How will establishing a personal minimums checklist reduce risk?
Having pre-established minimums makes it easier to make a smart and safe go/no-go decision
