What are the definitions of warnings, cautions and notes in the operators manual?
Warnings- potential loss of life or injury
Cautions-damage to aircraft systems or equipment
Notes- something essential to highlight or emphasize
Where does the APU get its fuel?
Left main fuel tank
Where is the APU DESU and what does it do?
Left side aft cabin/ramp area
Monitors APU start and operation
What is the difference between angle of incidence and angle of attack?
Angle of incidence- angle between the chord line and rotational relative wind
Angle of attack-angle between the chord line and the resultant relative wind (factors in induced flow)
How is dissymmetry of lift compensated for in a fully articulated rotor system?
Lead, lag, flap, and feathering
During run up, prior to engine start, how are the flight control hydraulics pressurized?
Utility power system (pressurized by APU motor pump) provides pressure to flight control hydraulics through the PTU’s (power transfer units)
Below what altitude will the engine driven fuel pump draw fuel from the main tanks if both main pumps fail?
Below 6,000’ PA

Define ground resonance
A self energizing condition in which the rotor blades become unbalanced due to improperly serviced parts or alternating wheel strikes upon landing, etc.
Describe where the ground proximity switches are and how they enhance ground handling
On both aft landing gear, they drive the LCT’s to “Ground” which tilts the rotor system to aid in taxiing and reduces pitch axis gain by 50%
What is the caution associated with the WOW switches?
If the landing lights remain on upon take off, the DASH will not function properly and LCTs may remain in GND
What is the corrective action for ground resonance in a CH47?
Immediate take off
How will the WOW switches be affected during a water landing or upslope landing?
They won’t turn on: LCT’s won’t be driven to ground and pitch axis gain won’t be reduced, LCTs will need to be manually actuated to GND

How do you recover from retreating blade stall?
Decrease airspeed and decrease altitude if able and increase rotor speed if able
What are the indications of an ENG FAIL?
- ENG 1/2 FAIL on MFD
- decrease in NG and TQ on failed engine
- increase in NG and TQ on healthy engine
- possible decrease in NR and potential loss of altitude
When does ENG 1/2 FAIL warning activate?
- NG <48%
- power turbine shaft failure (NP >3% of NR)
- Engine flameout
- Abort start or engine shutdown (only available with FADEC PRI)
- FADEC PRI and REV fail
Discuss considerations for TCL inputs after a single engine failure at a hover
<20’ TCL should be maintained in position
>20’ TCL should be lowered to maintain at least 96% NR

Calculated best single engine airspeed for planned conditions, an airspeed not to exceed limitations based on PPC
