What is Forward Presence?
- Key capability that establishes maritime forces in regions throughout the world
- The deployability/expeditionary character of naval aviation distinguishes it as a centerpiece of core
What is deterrence?
- Aligned to the National belief that preventing wars is as important as winning
- Possessing superior military strength will serve to deter aggressors
What is Sea Control?
- Protects the ability to operate freely at sea and enables of joint operations
- Surveillance
- Detection
- Attack of Coastal, Surface, Subsurface platforms are readily executed
What is Maritime Security?
- Maintenance of security at Sea and mitigation of threats short of war
- Combating terrorism, piracy, drug trafficking and other threats; enhancing global security.
What is Humanitarian Relief?
A Human obligation and a foundation of human character. Majority of world’s population lives within a few hundred miles of the ocean, meaning that access is best achieved by maritime forces
What does HSC stand for?
Helicopter Sea Combat
What does HSC do?
HSC units perform rescue, logistics, mine countermeasures, SAR missions
What does HSM stand for?
Helicopter Maritime Strike
What does HSM do?
Primary roles of Anti-submarine and Anti-surface warfare Secondary roles are logistics and rescue

Helicopter Training
What does VAQ stand for?
Tactical Electronic Warfare
What does VAQ do?
VAQ is a fixed wing squadron that tactically exploits, suppresses, degrades and decieves enemy electromagnetic defensive and offensive systems
