What causes Perthes?

A
  • Idiopathic

- Secondary to slipped capital femoral epiphysis, trauma, steroid use, sickle cell, toxic synovitis

How does Perthes present?

A

Insidious onset of intermittent pain in the anterior thigh and painless limp, particularly after exertion

Quadriceps atrophy, adductor flexion contracture, Trendellenburg gait
