Chronic use of NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal anti
inflammatory drugs) such as Ibuprofen: Risk of ulcers is 3x greater

S&S
A
epigastric pain
coffee
ground emesis: vomiting of dark brown contents when bleeding has slowed down or stopped. Results from the coagulation of the blood in the HCL
if pain is less after eating food

Management
A
Tx depends on the cause
Meds:
- H. Pylori: antibiotics
- proton pump inhibitors
