Pelvis and perineum 5.4 Flashcards
Which structures make up the lateral pelvic walls (3)
-Sacrospinous and sacrotuberous ligaments.
-Obturator internus and piriformis muscles.
-Obturator foramen, membrane and fascia.
Which structures make up the pelvic diaphragm?
-Coccygeus muscle.
-Levator ani muscles i.e. puborectalis, pubococcygeus and iliococcygeus muscles.
Five venous plexuses of the pelvic area
-Vesical, prostatic, uterine, rectal, vaginal
What are the pelvic nerves from the sacral plexus? (4) and their nerve roots (4).
-Sciatic nerve (L4-S3)
-Pudendal nerve (S2-S4)
-Superior gluteal nerve (L4-S1)
-Inferior gluteal nerve (L5-S2)
Which structures are innervated by the pudendal nerve?
-Perineum, perineal muscles, sensory to genitalia, external anal and urethral sphincters.
Which structures are innervated by the sciatic nerve?
Hip joint, flexors of the knee in thigh, all muscles of the leg and foot.
Which structures are innervated by the superior and inferior gluteal nerves?
Sup- Gluteus medius and minumus.
Inf- Gluteus maximus.
Function and nerve root of the:
a. Obturator nerve
