Describe Urge incontinence
Overactive bladder. Involuntary loss of urine occurring for no apparent reason
Describe Stress incontinence
Due to poor closure of the bladder, insufficient strength of pelvic floor muscles (happens with coughing, sneezing, or bearing down)
Describe Overflow Incontinence
Due to either poor bladder contraction or blockage of the urethra. Has constant dribbling
Describe functional incontinence?
Due to medications or health problems making it difficult to reach the bathroom
What is the first line of treatment for stress incontinence?
Kegels (pelvic floor strengthening)
Easier to perform in sitting than supine
What is a treatment method for urge incontinence?
Make effort to increase the time between urination (retrain the bladder)
