Interventions for patient's with Neuro Dysfunction Flashcards
What is a motor program?
A set of prestructured muscle commands that, when initiated, results in the production of a coordinated movement sequence.
What is a motor plan?
An overall strategy for movement; and acton sequence requiring the coordination of a number of motor programs
What is generalizability?
Te acquired capability to apply what has been learned to other similar tasks (transfer tests)
Describe intrinsic feedback:
Sensory information normally acquired during performance of a task (feedback from within)
Describe augmented feedback
Externally presented feedback that is added to that normally acquired during task performance (verbal cueing)
What is knowledge of results
Augmented feecback about the outcome of a movement
What is knowledge of performance
Augmented feedback about the nature of the movement produced
What is blocked practice?
Practice single motor skill repeatedly; (used early on in training)
What is variable practice?
practice of varied motor skills in which the performer is required to make rapid modifications o the skill in order to match demands
what is random practice?
Practice of a group or class of motor skills in a random order
Serial practice;
Practice of a group or class of motor skills in a predictable order
Massed practice?
Relatively continuous practice with low rest time (rest less than practice time)
Distributed practice?
Practice in which the rest time is relative large
When would you use after every trial? (terminal), and variable or concurrent feedback?
To improve performance, (terminal)
To improve retention and learning (variable/concurrent)
What are the 3 stages of learning?
Cognitive phase
Associative phase
Autonomous Phase
