For: DVT (assoc with sluggish blood flow due to bed rest)
Absorption: GI tract after admin orally
Metabolized: by the liver
Half-Life: 42 hrs
Contraindications: bleeding, bruising, open wounds
Side effects: Cramps, nausea, dermal necrosis, bleeding, fever

A

For: depressive disorder, chronic musculoskeletal pain
Absorption: well absorbed after oral admin
Metabolized: by enzyme pathways
Half-Life: 12 hr
Contraindications: hypersensitivity, angle closure glaucoma, MAO inhibitor therapy, renal disease, hepatic impairment
Side effects: drowsiness, insomnia, dizziness, nightmares, seizures, suicidal thoughts

A

For: Type II diabetes (check FBS 1X daily)
Absorption: long-acting result in delayed absorption
Metabolized: by liver, kidney, spleen, and muscle
Contraindications: hypoglycemia, allergy
Side effects: hypoglycemia, lipodystrophy, pruritis,erythema, allergic rxn - anaphylaxis

For: Edema (fluid retention)
Absorption: 60 - 67% absorbed after oral admin
Metabolized: mostly by liver
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, cross-sensitivity w/ thiazides and sulfanomides, hepatic coma or anuria
Side effects: blurred vision, dizziness, headache, tinnitus, hearing loss, hypotension, consipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, dispepsia, excessive urination, photosensitivity, pruritis, anemia, fever

For: hypertension (ACE inhibitor)
Absorption: 25% after oral admin
Metabolized: 100% by kidneys
Half-life: 12 hr
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, angioedema with previous use of ACE inhibitors
Side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, headache, insomnia, vertigo, cough, hypotension, chest pain, edema, tachycardia, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, hyperkalemia, neutropenia
