Pathophysiology Flashcards
Plasma components
electrolytes, water(92%), proteins (7%), wastes, nutrients, gases
plasma proteins
Albumin, globulins, fibrinogen
Components of formed elements of blood
platelets (4.8%), RBC (95.1%), WBC (0.1%)
WBC
Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, Basophils
Granulocytes
Neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils
neutrophils
phagocytize bacteria; first responders on scene of infection or inflammation; once used they become part of yellowish wound drainage
eosinophils
phagocytize antigen-antibody complex; attacks parasite; involved in type 1 allergic response and help control inflammation
basophil
involved in inflammatory response and releases histamine an other mediators during inflammation
monocyte
phagocytize bacteria, dead cells, and cellular debris
lymphocyte
involved in immune protection either attacking cells or producing antibodies; involved with viral infections
