what is lung cancer?
it is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages, the abnormal cells do not develop into healthy lung tissue, they divide rapidly and form tumours
what are the two broad types of lung carcinoma?

and
non-small cell lung carcinomas
what is the classification of lung carcinomas based upon?
the classification between small or non-small is based upon the microscopic appearance of the tumour cells

what percentage of lung cancers are non-small cell lung cancers?
85%
list subtypes of non-small cell lung cancers
squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and large cell carcinoma
