Q

What is a biblical understanding of marriage?

A

Mark 10:
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Eph. 5:21-28
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Q

What is your attitude and current status toward personal financial indebtedness?

A

How one handles money is a stewardship issue. There is good debt and bad debt. I took a mortgage on a house that is now worth more than twice what I paid for it. Had I not taken the personal indebtedness of the mortgage I would not have realized the gain on this asset. I have a car loan. While this loan will not yield an asset worth more than i paid for it, I needed this loan to secure the transportation I needed to get to work. I have no credit card debt, nor will I take any.
