Give a brief overview of Alliance history and distinctives.
HISTORY:
A.B. Simpson - pastor of a large church, left his church to start an outreach and missions organization. Started in NYC as a magazine on missions around the world then developed into a missionary sending organization and eventually in the years after Simpson had passed on, it became a denomination.
DISTINCTIVES:
Savior - Sanctifier - Healer - Coming King
What is the mission of The Christian and Missionary Alliance?
We desire to know Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King and to complete His Great Commission.
How do you reflect this mission in the life of your congregation?
By creating relationships and environments in which people meet Jesus, trust Jesus and follow Jesus.
What are the practical implications of the philosophy of ministry represented by the words “win,” “build,” “equip,” “multiply,” and “send”?
These are the ministry activities required to fulfill the great commission.
“Win” - Lead people to come to saving faith in Jesus.
“Build” - Lead people to grow in that faith.
“Equip” - Lead people to develop means to express that faith.
“Multiply” - Lead people to seek to win others and lead those others to grow and be equipped.
“Send” - Lead people to take this process to new places and settings.
What is the overall objective of Alliance international church planting and missionary work?
Fulfill the great commission
Matt 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matt 24:14 - This gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world… and then the end will come.
In what way is the task of Alliance missions also your personal responsibility?
As a disciple of Jesus, I am commissioned to make disciples of all nations. The Alliance provides me with the opportunity to engage and contribute to worldwide work.
What is the responsibility of the local church to the global vision of The Christian and Missionary Alliance?
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Three important ways to encourage this: 1. Teach a theology of mission 2. Give to the funding of mission 3. Send to the work of mission
