Q

What natural laws provide for god’s purpose?

A
  • Law of Harmony
  • if you follow the values of the trinity, then you as an individual or a species would prosper
  • most disturbances occur when these species turn away from that good
  • Law of Autonomy

  • starts mutualistic, but one turns to cheating within the relationship
17
Q

A
  • nature will be dynamic
  • nature will display both value and disvalue
18
Q

What is the consequences of autonomy?

A
  • natural evil: result of the autonomy of nature
    • volcanoes erupt
    • torando
19
Q

How does natural evil arise?

A
  • displacement: something that in its natural habitat gets moved to a different habitat, often becomes pathogenic
    • ex: naegleria fowelri
  • degeneration: even if god created an ecosystem that is harmonious, bad things essentially still happen by chance
    • this could be a single nucleotide change that could cause sickle cell anemia
  • natural selection: effective function for reproduction
20
Q

Where did parasites come from?

A

Antonio Vallisneri said that worms were actually present in the garden of eden and were beneficial to their host, however after the fall then raised an insurrection towards their creator

21
Q

What is the Natural Law Theodicy

A
  • God’s love –> human freedom –> dynamic ecosystem –> limited resources and random variation –> natural selection –> parasitism
  • The existence of natural evil is not necessary
  • the possibility of natural evil is necessary
22
Q

Why did god create humans?

A
  • He created humans so that we could be part of his family, be part of the trinitarian relationship

24
Q
