What is phimosis?

A

Constriction of the foreskin around the glans penis when the foreskin is forward

What usually causes paraphymosis?

A

Often happens after foreskin retracted for catheterisation or cystoscopy and staff member forgets to replace it in its natural position

How can paraphymosis be managed?

A
  • Iced glove, granulated sugar for 1-2 hours, multiple puntures in oedematous skin
  • Under penile block, manual compression of glans with distal traction on oedematous skin
  • If fails - dorsal slit
