Page 3- Sodium potassium pump Flashcards
1
Q
Sodium potassium pump
A
A carrier protein (involving active transport)
2
Q
What does it result in?
A
The pump moves 2 potassium into the cell for every 3 sodium it moves out of the cell.
This results in a net reduction of positive ions inside the cell hence RMP = -70mV (Polarised state)
