Why would you use a relay?
A
To keep the person using the switch safe from the high voltage circuit.

A
A switch that connects two circuits together

What happens when the circuit of a relay is closed?
A
turns on the electromagnet
rocker pivots and closes contacts in high current circuit
high current is isolated

how does a relay make a circuit safer
A
it isolates the high voltage circuit from a low voltage circuit

How does a relay work?
A
When low current circuit is on it turns electromagnet on.
This attracts an iron contact down of the rocker.
This causes the rocker to pivot down.
This pushes the two points of the high circuit together so the high current and voltage circuit is on.
