P6 - Logic Gates Flashcards

What's an AND gate?

A gate that needs both inputs to be on for the output to be on.

What's an XOR gate?

A gate that needs either of the imputs to be on. But can't have both on.

What's a NOT gate?

A gate which needs there to be no input to give off a output.

What system would be used for a two man rule (2 keys need to be turned before the button can kill millions and poison billions with harmful radiation poisoning, you sick sick, people)?
AND gate
If you put one input into a AND gate what will happen?
The AND gate will not give off a output because it requires two inputs.
Give a example of a use for a AND gate.
The two man rule. I.E turning two keys to firing a nuclear missile at Russia
How many combinations can you get for an AND and OR table?
4
Give a example of a use for a NOT gate
Anyway sort of switch. Ever.
How does an OR gate work?
Only one input needs to be on for the output to be on.
How does a NAND gate work?
The same as an AND gate but the opposite, such as if both inputs were on the output would be off, and if one input was off, the output would be on.
What system would be used for a two man rule (2 keys need to be turned before the button can kill millions and poison billions with harmful radiation poisoning)?
AND gate
What system is used for an alarm?
OR
Give a example of a use for a OR gate
Motion sensor lights which also have a switch.
What are AND logic gates made of
Two Transistors
How does a NOT gate work?
The output is opposite to the input.
