What happens to the moment exerted when using a longer spanner and why?
The same force can exert a larger moment because the distance is greater.
How can you get the maximum moment?
By pushing at right angles to the spanner.
What is an object’s centre of mass?
The point at which the whole mass is concentrated.
What a freely suspended weight do when let go?
Swing until it’s centre of mass is vertically below the point of suspension.
How can you find the centre of mass for a flat shape? [4]
1) suspend the shape and a plumb line from same point until they stop moving.
2) draw a line along plumb line.
3) do again from different pivot point.
4) centre is where they cross.
What is a moment?
The turning effect of a force.
