What is the brown wire in a cable and what does it do?
The live wire.
It alternates between a high +ve and -ve voltage.
What is the blue wire in a cable and what does it do?
The neutral wire.
It is always at OV.

What is the green & yellow wire and what does it do?
It is the earth wire.
It prevents fire and shocks.
What are the 4 wiring facts about a plug?
1) right coloured wire is connected to each pin and is firmly screwed in.
2) no bare wires showing.
3) cable grip fastened over outer layer.
4) thicker cables - less resistance - more current.
Name the 2 features of a plug.
1) metal parts are made of copper/brass - good conductors.
2) case, cable grip & cable insulation are made of rubber/plastic - good insulators and flexible.
