1960s: largely working class, start of decay due to incr levels of crime and unemployment
1970s: significant poverty levels, plummeting property values and abandoned buildings → rise of drug dealers and other crime
Late 1980s: beginning of urban renewal projects
Today: improving living conditions but still high levels of urban poverty and crime
