Rare but more women die due to late presentation

- BRCA gene

- Subfertility treatment

- COCP/HRT
- Breast feeding
- Hysterectomy

What are the clinical features of ovarian carcinoma?
A
Vague symptoms Bloating Abdominal distension/pain Loss of appetite Weight loss Fatigue Change in bowel habits

What are investigations are there for ovarian carcinoma?
A
2 week referral for pelvic mass/ascites
BLOODS
<40yrs = Ca125, alpha-fetoprotein, beta-HCG
IMAGING
-Urgent abdominal and pelvic US
SURGICAL
-Laparotomy w/ biopsy

How is ovarian cancer managed?
A
Adenocarcinomas treated w/ chemotherapy (6 months post op) & surgery
