HPV 6 and 11 = > 90% of cases

What are the risk factors/aetiology of genital warts?
A
STI
- young age (risky behaviour)
- non-barrier protection
- recent change in sexual partner
- > 2 sexual partners in a year

What are the clinical features of genital warts?
A
WARTS
- Skin tags on genital and perianal areas
- May or may not be pendunculated
- Can occur in clusters
- May bleed or itch
-Infected partner maybe asymptomatic

How are genital warts diagnosed?
A
Visual examination alone

How are genital warts treated?
A
- Very difficult to eradicate infection
- May resolve spontaneously
MEDICATION
- Topical podophyllum (1st line)
- Topical Imiquimod
SURGICAL
- Cryotherapy
- Electrocautery
