What considerations must be taken during history taking when suspecting BRCA mutations?
A
- Need maternal and paternal family history
- More prevalent in Ashkenazi Jews
- Risk of BC still increases with age

WOMEN
50-80% risk of BC/ ovarian cancer
MEN
10-20% risk of BC

What management is done when suspected BRCA +ve?
A
Screening
- Family members may be screened IF disease-mutation has been identified in an affected family member
- Mammogram then alternating with MRI (reduce radiaiton exposure)
SURGICAL
Prophylatic Mastectomy
Prophylatic Oophrectomy
