When are doors considered defective and must be locked out of use? (4)
A
- Trappings/injuries caused by malfunctioning door
- Malfunctioning doors (opening/closing when not supposed to)
- Passenger controls malfunctioning (lit/unlit when not supposed to be)
- Slam door handles not returning to horizontal and/or stiff in frame

What do we do if we have a defective door?
A
- Try it 3 times
- Lock and label
- Report it to maintenance
- Record in Vehicle Repair Book

For a vehicle (carriage) to be locked out of use, which doors must be locked out of use?
A
- Extreme end door(s)
- if multiple doors on the same side of the vehicle are locked

What do we do if we encounter a fault on the train?
A
- Report it to the driver
- Report it to the DCM if safety related, Maintenance control if not
- Record in Vehicle Repair Book
- Follow any instructions from control

What is the EBS and what does it do?
A
- Emergency Brake Switch
- When activated it allows the brakes to be released even when the brake safety loop is interrupted
- Brakes will only be controlled by the driver, no other system will work
