- Establish if anyone has fallen onto the track
- Secure gangway doors
- Make sure passengers are in a safe position on the train

A
Is pre planned, coordinated and signaller has confirmed signal protection on adjacent line

Procedure for carrying out controlled evacuation?
A
- Get permission from Duty Control Manager and signal protection from Signaller
- Formulate a plan with the driver and make an announcement for a competent person to come forward
- Make announcements to passengers to give evacuation instructions
- Use one door only and place ladder from it on the safest side
- Position 2 competent people at the bottom of the ladder to assist and stabilise
- Position 1 Competent person at the top of the ladder to help people onto it
- Position 1 competent person in a position of Safety to direct people off the lines

Procedure for a train to train evacuation?
A
- Get permission off the DCM and wait for them to brief staff members involved
- Position 2 members of staff on the ground to hold the ramp in place
- Position 1 member if staff at each door of the trains involved
- Assess the feasibility of the evacuation (angle, distance between trains etc)
- Test the ramp yourself thoroughly before letting passengers across; one at a time on foot
- anyone that cannot cross themselves (eg wheelchair uses) must remain on demic train
