OST Module 2 Flashcards
Psoriatic arthropathy
Soft tissue swelling.
Erosions, periosteal reaction and enthesophytes.
Atlanto-axial impaction
Widening of predental space.
Anterior arch of C1 lies infront of lower portion of C2 (normally anterior to dens).
Difficult to visualise dens
Myelofibrosis
Collagen production in bone marrow.
Diffuse low marrow signal on MRI.
Splenomegaly.
Osteonecrosis/AVN
Double line sign on T2 (parallel rim of hyper and hypointensity).
Serpentine, ring like sclerosis on X ray in metadiaphyseal osteonecrosis
Commonest fracture associated with radial head fracture
Coronoid process
Aggressive granulomatous disease post hip arthroplasty
Well delineated areas of lucency at the cement-bone interface, which are progressive
Chondroblastoma
Epiphysis of long bones before skeletal maturity.
Lucent lesions, most have sclerotic border, some (1/3) have chondroid matrix.
HIV-associated arthritis
Oligoarticular, asymmetric, peripheral. Mainly knees and ankles.
Short lived (1-6 weeks).
May demonstrate joint effusion.
Perilunate dislocation associated with
Scaphoid fracture
Features of skeletal sarcoid
Lace like bone destruction,
Cyst like radiolucencies,
Bone erosions,
Subcutaneous soft tissue mass
Romanus lesions
Irregularities of the anterior and posterior edges of vertebral endplates.
Earliest changes of AS on plain film
Osgood schlatter vs Sinding larsson
OS affects the tibial attachment.
SL affects the patellar attachment
Plantar fibromatosis
Low T1/T2 homogenous mass in the foot with enhancement
CPPD associations
Hyperparathyroidism
Hypothyroidism
Hypomagnesaemia
Haemochromatosis
Mets vs haematopoeitic marrow
Increased signal on out of phase (prolonged TE) imaging in haematopoeitic marrow
Vertebral haemangioma MRI
Increased T1 and T2, decreased STIR
Nail Patella syndrome
Nail dysplasia,
Patella hypoplasia,
Elbow hypoplasia,
Posterior iliac horns (considered pathognomonic)
Major MSK criterion for Marfans
Reduced upper to lower segment ratio
Popliteal artery/vein anatomy
Both pass lateral to medial head of gastrocnemius, surrounded by fat
Hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy
XR: Cortical thickening and lamellar periosteal proliferation in meta-diaphysis
Classification of calcaneal fractures
Based on location at posterior facet, intra or extra-articular
Osteogenesis imperfecta (adult)
Usually type 1 or 4
Type 1: more hearing loss, blue sclera
Type 4: Less hearing loss, blue sclera only in childhood
