Q
biochem test
A
Test 1: Bacitracin sensitivity test- Isolate is resistant
* Test 2- CAMP test. Isolate is positive ; Central streak – Staphylococcus aureus
- Principle of CAMP test : S. aureus sphingomyelinase and CAMP factor of S. agalactiae are responsible for the CAMP reaction. Sphingomyelinase first hydrolyzes sphingomyelin to ceramide, making erythrocytes susceptible to the lytic activity of factor CAMP.
6
Q
other test
A
- Latex test kit for bacterial pathogens causing meningitis: Group B streptococci is positive ( clumps ++)
- Lancefield typing Latex agglutination kit : Clumps seen for Group B streptococci
