-high grade fever, headache and neck rigidity.
-CSF was sent for Gram stain and culture.

- Both intracellular and extracellular GN diplococci seen
- Presumptive diagnosis: Meningococcal meningitis

- Blood agar:Non-hemolytic colonies
- Chocolate agar:Better growth, larger colonies
- MacConkey agar: No growth

Biochemical identification
A
- Catalase test: Positive
- Oxidase test: Positive
- Sugar fermentation test:
▪ Glucose - Fermented
▪ Maltose - Fermented
▪ Sucrose – Not fermented
*N. gonorrheae ferments only glucose
